Infant Feeding Support
We are so privileged at Rosehips Midwifery to have an Internationally Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), leading the Infant Feeding Support team. IBCLC Certification is the highest level of education and accreditation there is for any professional providing lactation and infant feeding support.

Rebecca Geddes, IBCLC
REGISTERED MIDWIFE & LACTACTION CONSULTANT(she/her)
Hi, I’m Rebecca. I am a Registered Midwife and International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). I am honoured to care for you after the birth of your baby. It is my goal for you to feel safe and heard, and I take a kind, trauma-informed approach with all my clients.

Since graduating from UBC’s Midwifery Program I have practised midwifery all across rural and remote B.C., as well as in remote communities across Canada’s northern territories. Now, I gratefully live and practise on the beautiful territory of the Lekungwen-speaking people.
I have a diverse background in midwifery, science, fine arts, sexual health education, and teaching. I have also been fortunate to travel globally for my education. In Australia, I obtained my Masters of Fine Arts and my Cabinetry Certification. Additionally, I co-founded an arts centre in Sydney, Australia.
This creative work combined advocacy and my passion for mindful community, which has evolved into the way I practise as a full-time midwife, International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, clinical preceptor and sessional teaching faculty at UBC’s Faculty of Midwifery. Teaching is a cornerstone of my practice as I feel it is essential that we mentor and support the next generation of health care professionals to provide compassionate, thorough and patient-centred care.
When not catching babies, I can be found in coveralls making art, listening to records or sipping a cup of coffee. I am excited to meet and work with you!

REGISTERED MIDWIFE, POSTPARTUM TEAM (she/her)
I am Ali, and I am grateful to live and work in the beautiful territories of the Lekwungen-speaking Indigenous peoples. Midwifery was a mid-career change motivated by the wonderful care I received when birthing my son under the care of midwives. I was inspired by the opportunity to support families through life transitions, and to serve families in the sometimes vulnerable early weeks after birth. My favourite aspect of being a midwife is building relationships with clients, and I believe the most important skills I have as a midwife are listening and empathy.

After graduating from the UBC Midwifery Program, I worked in a full scope practice caring for pregnant, birthing and postpartum families. I recognized that I have a special love for helping postpartum folks as they blossom into new families or add a new sibling into the mix, and was grateful to join the Rosehips Postpartum Team. I am also honoured to work with a program in Victoria that supports families experiencing pregnancy loss.
My background is in anthropology, history, adult education, and restorative justice processes. I am a clinical instructor for the UBC Midwifery Program, and I really enjoy mentoring student midwives as they develop their skills.
When I am not with birthing folks, newborns and families, the things I love the most are spending time with my son and our friends in our beautiful city and around the Island, spending time in our garden, foraging edible plants, eating delicious food, and travelling.
What an infant feeding expert can help you with:
Prenatal consults: For example, for anyone with a history of breast or chestfeeding challenges, breast surgery, expecting twins, anticipating a baby needing feeding support in the NICU, or wanting to induce lactation.
Postpartum consults: For example, anyone experiencing challenges like nipple pain, milk supply issues, slow weight gain for baby, or babies born preterm and/or with health challenges, and needing extra support.
How to work with an IBCLC
If you are pregnant or less than 6 weeks postpartum, please reach out to your Registered Midwife, Physician, Nurse Practitioner, Registered Nurse or Registered Social Worker for a referral to the Infant Feeding Team ( Magnolia Team).
Here is the form they will need.
If you need assistance with the referral process, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our office at 778-400-3073.
What to expect during a consultation
Every feeding journey is unique. Our sessions provide a supportive space to address your concerns and guide you through each milestone. Whether you prefer the comfort of an in-person visit or the convenience of a virtual consultation, we offer flexible options tailored to your family's needs. We believe that feeding your baby should be a happy time, not a stressful one. Our goal is to give you the right tools and support so you can feel confident as you move forward.
Meet the Magnolias
